Very excited to announce my affiliation with the Imperial Beach Historical Society! I'll be handling their social media platforms as well as the creation of their website. I think this partnership is a perfect example of multi-generational collaboration. There is so much this group can teach me and so much I can offer them in return. I'm so excited to help preserve this city's rich history while offering new avenues to make information more accessible to all residents!
While the Historical Society's website is under construction, please be sure to follow our Facebook group for daily photos, updates, artifacts, and more! Working hard with the Imperial Beach Hunger Coalition's Citywide Food Pantry this morning! With nearly 1/4 of households in IB currently earning less than $2,000 per month, the need for these programs are important as ever. Just another day in Imperial Beach with ordinary citizens doing extraordinary things and changing the world.
If you would like to find out more about this organization and how you could help, please visit their website at http://www.ibumc.com/imperial-beach-hunger-project/ There's still time to donate a pair of shoes to Imperial Beach's Change the Sole shoe event. A local woman is holding the second shoe drive in Imperial Beach's Portwood Pier Plaza. All shoes will be given to children in need. Proud to be a resident of a city with so many dedicated locals taking initiative and changing the world!
Honored and humbled to spend my Friday's volunteering with Traveling Stories, a non-profit that promotes engaging, social reading experiences that help kids fall in love with reading. For every book read, volunteers award a child one "book buck" which they can save up to buy prizes at the end of their time with us. What a proud moment it is for the residents of Imperial Beach to be part of a community that offers this type of program to our youth!
Stop by our tent at the Farmers Market every Friday between 4-6:30 with your kiddos and say hello! My daughter and I attended the Imperial Beach Historical Society Fundraiser where shops and food vendors alike showed up to support the Historical Society near the Portwood Pier Plaza. Imperial Beach is celebrating their 60th anniversary, and what better way than with a gathering of locals-old and new.
